Take the MAC Decathlon Challenge this Month

t’s not too late. Do not hesitate, do not delay, now is the time to act to get in on
the fun. The last day to register for the 2010 classic Decathlon is Sunday, May 9. The classic Decathlon is Monday, May 3 through Sunday, May 23.
Participants have three weeks to complete 10 out of 18 events. Conditioning: 1,000-meter row,
2,000-meter row, 200–yard swim, mile run, stationary bike Speed/skill: 100-meter dash, 400-meter
dash, 40-yard shuttle run, 50-yard swim, basketball free throws, football punt (baseball throw for women), jump rope and long jump Strength: Bench press, pull-ups, shot put, and vertical leap Participants complete three events from each of the categories with the 10th event chosen from any of the categories. Members may complete as many events as they desire; some participants elect to finish all of the events in each category. The Decathlon Committee takes participants’ best scores in each category, so members are encouraged to challenge themselves with events that may not be their best but could be in the future.
Ironman/Ironwoman
The Ironman/Ironwoman Decathlon is
similar to the classic Decathlon; however, it is comprised of 10 set events and is completed during a two-day period. The Ironman/ Ironwoman Decathlon events are: bench press, jump rope, pull-ups, stationary bike, 2,000-meter row, 50-yard swim, shot put, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and the mile run. The Ironman/Ironwoman competition is Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23. This is truly an exciting event and is for those seeking the ultimate challenge.

com or at the round table located by the entrance to the Exercise and Conditioning Room. Decathlon event packets with complete details of the competition are avail- able at the sign-up table in the E&C Room. Members of the Decathlon Committee are happy to answer any questions or offer tips for any last-minute training for the events. Don’t miss this opportunity for a personal
