Summertime is filled with fun at

It’s not too late to make summer plans for children of all ages. MAC offers a variety of new and exciting camps for youngsters. Following are a few of this summer’s highlights.

Quarterback and

Wide Receiver Camp

Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25 9-11 a.m. • JS872

$75 members/$90 guests

This camp is for serious football players who want to improve their skills. Joe Bushman, the current head coach at Clackamas High School and former academic All-American at Willamette University, leads this camp. Bushman brings position-specific coaching expe- rience that gives campers an edge for competition in the fall.

Hank Marcus Racquetball

Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25 10-11 a.m. • JS045 $30 members/$36 guests

This camp provides a great chance for children to learn an exciting game. MAC Pro Hank Marcus leads this camp, which includes instruction and games.

Girls Lacrosse

Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25 2-4 p.m. • JS866

$99 members/$120 non-members

Holly Ziegler coaches the girls’ camp at Lincoln High School. She brings energy, passion and professional experience to MAC lacrosse.

Badminton

Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25 4-6 p.m. • JS046

Alan Vannarath leads this classic summertime game camp and brings more than 25 years of competition experience to help campers learn the basic fundamentals and rules of the game.

Boys Lacrosse

Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9 9-11 a.m. • JS495

$80 members/$100 non-members

Dennis Sullivan heads the boys’ camp held at OES. Campers can look forward to a great experience this summer.

Bernie Fagan Soccer

Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m. • JS056 $80 members/$100 non-members

Bernie Fagan returns this year to coach MAC summer camp. Fagan is a former professional soccer player and is one of the Northwest’s most respected coaches. He now heads the men’s soccer program at Warner Pacific University.

Photojournalism

Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16 9-11:30 a.m. • ME238 $142 members/ $157 guests

Students in grades nine through 12 explore photojournalism as a career and as a way of seeing and documenting the surrounding world. In this hands-on class, students use their camera to create images that tell compelling stories. The class takes field trips to various Portland sites to photograph and interview subjects. The class culminates in an online photo blog. Students need to bring a digital camera.

Sonja Henning Girls

Basketball

Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16 9-11 a.m. • JS022

$99 members/$120 non-members

Sonja Henning leads a girls-only camp for ages 6 to 10. This camp focuses on the proper fundamentals of basketball to improve campers’ skills.

Henning played point guard for the Houston Comets in the WNBA, where she led her team to a world championship.

Kidsersize

Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16 9 a.m.-4 p.m. • JS102 $225 members/$270 guests

Monday, July 26 through Friday, July 30 9 a.m.-4 p.m. • JS103 $225 members/$270 guests

Campers ages 6 to 13 travel by van to various fun and exciting attractions. Youngsters visit OMSI, Enchanted Forest, Oregon Zoo and Children’s Museum, Oaks Park, plus many more. MAC staff drives the vans and maintains a one-to-four staff-to-camper ratio at least. Lunch is not included. Two different weeks of activities are offered.
