SPRING SUCCESS AT SILVER LEYS
April brought sunshine and smiles to BSRFC. From the very young players to the oldest supporters there was something to cheer. The Mini sections were involved in a number of Festivals, the busiest age group being Under-11s who took part in 3 tournaments during the month. Starting at Nottingham where there were 3 trophies up for grabs with the finals at Twickenham in May. Success was achieved and the boys will make their 2nd appearance at the home of rugby this season in The Bowl Final on 29th May. A trip to play in the Saracens Mini Tournament along with Under-12s followed where there was to be no glory. However, consolation was easy to find as, Under-11s and Under-12s, proudly paraded around the Wembley pitch before Saracens played Harlequins in front of 50,000 spectators. At the County Mini Festivals 6 year olds up to 12 year olds enjoyed a fine weekend with trophies being brought back by Under-11s and Under- 9s.
Youth success was highlighted with the Under-17s reaching the National Shield Final where they will play Silhillians RFC at Northampton’s Ground on 2nd
May.
The Colts gained revenge over old foe Old Albanians in the County Cup Final overturning a 15 point half-time deficit to win 28-26!
The 1st XV ended the league season in 5th place (the highest ever!) having defeated Bracknell and Dorking away from home. They now look forward to the County Cup Final against Old Albanians and hope to retain the trophy won last year.
The Club is alive and busy during the Summer so take advantage and come to the Midsummer Music Madness on 19th June. Families can spend the early part of the day at the Town Carnival and make their way for an evening of fun and entertainment at Silver Leys.
