Fulfilling the role of CDM co-ordinator

THE role of a CDM co-ordinator is to provide specialist advice for construction health and safety risk management matters. The role is required where projects are notifiable, as defined in the CDM regulations 2007; in other words, contracts of more than 30 working days or 500- person days duration for non- domestic clients.

Main duties for a co-ordinator, as highlighted by the HSE, include:

*advising and assisting the client with their duties

*notifying details of the project to HSE

*co-ordinating health and safety aspects of design work and co-operating with others involved with the project *facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors *liaising with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work

*identifying, collecting and passing on pre-construction information
