ART @ DELAMORE 2010
Over 100 artists, both established and new, are exhibiting at the eighth annual charity exhibition Art @ Delamore 2010. Featuring leading painters and sculptors from the Southwest and across the UK, this show promises to have something for everyone. It will be held every day in May from 10.30am - 4.30pm on the Delamore estate in Cornwood. A landmark of traditional Dartmoor architecture, the estate was commissioned by Admiral Parker (one of Nelson’s captains at Trafalgar) as a wedding gift in 1859.
“We pride ourselves on bringing a fresh, thought provoking and diverse collection of art to the public every year, from Henry Moore Foundation prize winners to emerging artists” commented Gavin Dollard, one of the exhibition’s Directors. And if the huge success of the 2009 exhibition is anything to go by, then this year will be a must see. Several new projects are being launched, including a space that will serve soup, salad, sandwiches, cakes and ice-creams. Also, Plymouth’s Creative Arts Facility “Flameworks” will be launching their very own sculpture trail around Delamore’s idyllic trout lake, and Max Lowry will exhibit his 3D chalk paintings which are set to be filmed for Blue Peter.
Visitors can also explore the estate’s spectacular Victorian gardens (open only in May each year) and the main hall whilst

viewing the various works on show. The Millennium Avenue at the back of the house displays the largest Cromlech in the world, where visitors can walk the 200 metres (one metre for each decade) of the lime avenue up to the Tomb surrounded by century old rhododendrons. “If it is Delamore time, then it must be summer” says Nicky, who has preened the glorious gardens into shape, in time for the most outstanding springtime flowering on record.
So far Delamore Arts has raised over £70,000 for charities in the South West. This year’s supported charity is The
