PAUL FOOT
Thurs 13 May, Laughter Lounge @ Parc & Dare, Treorchy. Tickets: £8. Info: 01443 773112.
Wherein the Parc & Dare take a step alongside most of the Valleys theatre venues by launching a monthly standup comedy night, in their smaller room (when they have blues artists in there it’s called the Blues Lounge, see?). To kick the series off we have Paul Foot, who is not related to the late left-wing journalist. He has however maintained a healthy profile among the rank and file of British standup since winning a brace of ‘new comedian’ awards in the late 90s. His act is surreal and off the cuff, and rarely features de facto jokes; he gets by with a certain campness, a profound Britishness and an odd charm.
