Pelham Track and Field Teams Host Invitational

Pelham’s track and field athletes braved the cold, rainy weather conditions last Saturday to host the annual Pelham Invitational track meet. After achieving some solid marks at Portsmouth the previous Tuesday, the Pythons looked to continue their improvement on their home track.
In addition to the Pythons,
the event featured six other squads: Windham, Milford, Oyster River, Bedford, Hollis- Brookline, and St. Thomas Aquinas. Overall, the Pelham boys’ team finished third amongst its competition, while the girls took fifth place. Both teams received a number of strong performances from their athletes. The boys were led by Conor
McColgan, who picked up Most Valuable Performer honors for the meet. The senior had an outstanding day in his last Pelham Invite as he placed in four individual events while grabbing 30 total points for his team.
McColgan earned his best placing of the day in the javelin, where he threw for 141 feet, four inches to take first. He also took second places in both the shot put and the discus, submitting tosses of 38 feet, one inch and 111 feet, seven inches, respectively. Additionally, he picked up third place in the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet, 10-and-a-half inches.
Cam Robidoux also proved to be a steady placer for the Pythons. The senior took thirds in the 100 and 200 meters,
while bounding to a fourth- place finish in the long jump as well. He finished at 11.6 seconds in the 100, 24.2 in the 200, and 18 feet in the long jump.
Robidoux’s teammates Steve Hammer, Mike Bogochow, and Brandon Hannon were additional scorers for the Pythons. Hammer placed fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.1, Bogochow won the 300 hurdles in 44.3 seconds, and Hannon came in sixth place in the triple jump with a leap of 29 feet, two-and-a-quarter inches. The 4x800 team also took fourth place in a time of 9:48.8.
On the girls’ side, Emily Long led the Pythons in the sprints, taking sixth place in both the 200 and 400 meters. Her 200 time was 30.1 seconds,
while her 400 time was 1:08.8. Meanwhile, in the distances, Melody Long ran to a fifth-place finish and a time of 2:36.9 in the 800 meters, and Emily Spognardi took fifth place in the 1600 with a mark of 5:48.7. In the field, the girls were
led by Kaileigh Stelmack and Kirsten Salois. Stelmack turned in a jump of 10 feet, seven inches for sixth in the long jump, and Salois triple-jumped to 22 feet, four-and-a-half inches for a third-place finish. The girls’ relay teams also
enjoyed success. The 4x100 squad of Emily Long, Salois, Samantha Poirier, and Stelmack stopped the clock at 1:02.3 to come in fifth place. The 4x400 team finished third in a time of 4:50.8, and the 4x800 team crossed the finish line at 10:43.4 for third as well.

The Pelham School District annually consults with stakeholders at St. Patrick School to consider the needs of special education students enrolled there. Discussion and subsequent decision making at this meeting will directly affect the types of services that will be provided to St. Patrick students during the 2010-2011 school year. All stakeholders and members of the public are encouraged to participate in this consultation process. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the SAU 28 Administrative Offices in Windham (19 Haverhill Road). Along with the ongoing childfind process for students enrolled at St. Patrick School, the following topics will serve as agenda items:
A. How special education and related services will be provided for these students.
B. Where special education and related services will be provided for these students.
C. Who will provide the special education and related services for these students
D. What types of services will be provided: direct services, contracted services, or alternative service delivery mechanisms.
E. How services will be apportioned if the funds are insufficient to serve all parentally placed children. F. How the decisions in A-E will be made.
