Eighteen teams of the highest calibre had taken part in this competition over, with teams qualifying from both Guards and Cowdray Park Polo Clubs. Interestingly, all four teams who played on finals day had qualified from Guards Polo Club, including those playing in the subsidiary final for the Mountbatten Trophy.
