or the first time in the history of these two polo clubs, Guards Polo Club and Coworth Park have teamed up to offer some great grounds and even greater matches for our players. It also means that Guards members can use Coworth’s helicopter landing facility! Coworth Park – just five minutes from Blacknest Gate and home to some 240 acres of Berkshire parkland – may have a smaller fixture list than that at Smith’s Lawn, but provides some exciting tournaments. Top of its list is the 18-goal Indian Empire Shield. This competition, due to be played on 4 – 21 May, always offers some great games and the winners go home with a really impressive polo trophy. Coworth will also host some of The Queen’s Cup matches which make it an ideal venue for our members as it is literally just down the road. Coworth Polo Manager Roddy Wood – no stranger to the Guards Polo

Coworth Park Polo Club has joined Guards Polo Club’s reciprocal scheme – offering a first-class extension to our already impressive fixture list

Office – is already in discussion with our own Oliver Ellis as to who plays where. In the run up to Cartier International Day, Coworth hosts its Coworth Park Challenge – a 15-goal tournament that provides great sport for players and spectators alike. However the highlight of the Club’s season will come at the end of this season. The 18 – 19 September marks the opening of an impressive Country House Hotel and Spa – the newest member of the Dorchester Collection. Steeped in history, the main house at Coworth Park dates back to 1776 and 30 of the hotel’s 70 bedrooms and suites will be located in this building, with a further 40, just a short walk away. The most impressive of all the suites will be The Dower House – a picturesque private house built in 1775 which even boasts its own secluded garden with a stream running through it which is home to Coworth Park’s family of swans. In addition to all this luxury, Coworth Park will be one of the UK’s most environmentally friendly hotels. Committed to reducing its carbon impact, a technically advanced infrastructure supports the running of the hotel. One such innovation is the biomass boiler and the cultivation of its own fuel supply from the willow grown on the estate – a first for a UK hotel. Of course the polo will remain an integral part of the hotel and safeguard this venue’s rich equestrian heritage.
