kitchen around how it will be used. If building a new development, or working with private clients, knowing and understanding the specific requirements of the user is imperative to successful kitchen design. Research conducted by Schüller, a German kitchen manufacturer, found that there were five key groupings that help guide successful kitchen design. Start describes those who are buying their first home and will be looking for quirky, innovative designs, quite often in a strong colour with open plan options. Living suggests families who want the kitchen to be the heart of the home with attractive materials in easy care finishes. Prime kitchens are aimed at those over 50 who are happy to invest in quality design and want to spend time in the kitchen - for this demographic ergonomics is key. Image focuses on design for 30 - 50 year old professionals where style with form will be married with function. Feeling is for those where the focus is on relaxation and sustainability. This grouping will often be attracted to diverse styles ranging from classic to modern, including cottage styles.
Door design

explained, it’s more important to do the background research first. There are a plethora of kitchen door designs and finishes but there are key choices to be made:

High gloss or matt lacquer. Whether mirror-like reflections of
high gloss kitchen cabinetry to silky smooth matt lacquers there are plenty of colour options and finishes available. Particularly popular at the moment are monochromatic kitchens, deep colours and soft, subtle shades. Wood effect or real veneers. While cost might be the deciding factor, this is a key choice for some consumers. Wood effects have developed in recent years with dark wood options increasingly prevalent, yet nothing beats real wood veneer when applied and used by real craftsmen. Bright or subtle colours. This can be a risky choice. Get it wrong and clients will be isolated or have a strong reaction (either positive or negative). Bright colours can be effectively used as accents. Subtle colours are often used in more homely environments, creating a warm and relaxed feel. Doors as art. There are some amazing door options available. Very popular at the moment are glass like doors and also gold and silver leaf which can be beautifully applied – best used on wall units – transforming and uplifting a kitchen design. Kitchens now take pride of place and are a key investment in the
home. Lifestyles are changing and the kitchen will continue to reflect this as a dynamic and ever involving environment.
