Flooring Association
(CFA) is delighted to announce that Marks & Spencer (M&S) has decided to only specify CFA flooring contractor members to install floors in their premises. In addition, M&S engaged the training arm of the CFA, the Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA), to carry out an assessment programme for installers to establish a base line of competency and best practice. M&S Construction Standards Manager Matt Edgell said, “Our experience of working with the CFA and FITA has been incredibly positive.”

Flowcrete’s Isocrete Acoustic K combines noise-reduction efficiency with the time-proven performance of Isocrete screeds. The system comprises an acoustic resilient layer and screed and is installed as a complete system on site by just one trained applicator. Acoustic K can also be used in conjunction with Flowcrete’s Isowarm underfloor heating system to produce a quiet, warm environment without the need for radiators. Applied by specialist Flowcrete approved contractors, Acoustic K complies with Building Regulations, offers a reduced screed thickness and enables an early installation of sensitive finishes, over the substrate.
Forbo Step is Safer by Design
Forbo Flooring Systems has launched Step, a new range of safety vinyl flooring with an emphasis on good design. Step is far removed from traditional safety flooring, with a choice of inspiring colours, textures and finishes including wood and stone effect and holographic chip. This means that designers can now specify safety flooring based on aesthetics and not just legislative compliance. Step complies with HSE recommendations (>36 pendulum test value and >20 surface roughness) and covers slip resistance R10-R12 and barefoot safety. In addition, the range meets EN13845 relating to PVC floor coverings with enhanced particle resistance. However, the real focus of the new collection has been the range of designs, fresh colours and contemporary styles, not usually associated with safety flooring. A choice of 72 shades is available, including a wide selection of bright colours for maximum visual impact and standout. The non-directional patterns and the capability to incorporate bespoke designs and logos into the flooring scheme provide further freedom for creative specifiers. Colours and patterns in the Step collection have been carefully co-ordinated with other Forbo collections and the colour range is continued across different slip (R) ratings, allowing the creation of harmonious, colour co-ordinated interiors throughout the building.
