Hydropanel Takes Some Beating

really do take some beating according to the BRE with recent tests confirming that it easily meets all the requirements of BS 5234-2: 1992. The tests at the BRE were carried out on a 100 mm partition wall that comprised one layer of 12 mm Hydropanel wallboard fixed to either side of steel studs at 600 mm centres using Hydropanel screws. The Hydropanel partition wall passed BS 5234-2: 1992 on all criteria, including stiffness, resistance to surface damage by a variety of objects and the effects of door slamming.

Four new office blocks on Farnborough Business Park in Hampshire have benefited from Styroclad insulation supplied by Panel Systems, which will help the building meet BREEAM requirements. The buildings are part of Project Duo, which involves a £38 million development of four x 4 storey commercial buildings. Styroclad supplied by Panel Systems was used to insulate the parapet on the flat roofs as where there is an inadequate thermal break between the building and the parapet, the upstand itself can act as a cold sink, drawing heat from the building. Styroclad is designed specifically to address this problem by insulating the parapet, reducing its ability to draw heat from the building, which will help to alleviate cold bridging and therefore improve the thermal performance of the building.
