M&S to Only Specify CFA Contractor Members
The Contract
Flooring Association (CFA)
is delighted to announce that Marks & Spencer (M&S) has decided to only specify CFA flooring contractor members to install floors in their premises. In addition, M&S engaged the training arm of the CFA, the Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA), to carry out an assessment programme for installers to establish a base line of competency and best practice. M&S Construction Standards Manager Matt Edgell said, “Our experience of working with the CFA and FITA has been incredibly positive.”

New Resin Floor Covers Terrazzo
Breaking out old Terrazzo tiling is both expensive and time consuming. Project managers faced with removing old, cracked tiling are forced to contemplate a limited range of options. At the redevelopment of Haymarket Station, Tyne and Wear, the original Terrazzo flooring was high noise, unsightly and had poor slip qualities. Tiles were well bonded however and removal costs to enable new flooring were extremely high. A solution was found with an overlaid product, Stonres RTZ, from Stonhard UK. Over 1200 m2
of Stonres RTZ resin floor was laid over the
original tiles and sealed with matt slip resistant coatings. The system allows for minor movements under the flooring. The finished product is a heavy duty, good looking floor surface that provides excellent noise absorption, particularly within the tunnels. Stonhards’ complete service covers R&D, manufacturing, installation, project management and after sales. This allows them the distinct advantage of a single source warranty on both the product and standard of workmanship. Floors are designed with sustainability in mind, tough surfaces designed to withstand corrosive chemicals and years of punishing abrasion.
