Beautiful, Bespoke Oak Framed Buildings
Westwind Oak Buildings Ltd
specialise in the design and construction of beautiful, bespoke oak framed buildings. Whether contemporary or traditional, our frames are unique and designed to our clients’ exact specifications. Our team of highly skilled craftsmen ensure a high level of service at all times. Over the last 20 years we have raised oak frames throughout the UK, including the Channel Islands, and Europe. Green Oak timber framing has been part of our building heritage for centuries, and oak framing today continues the same traditional techniques, combined with modern design and construction methods to create stunning oak houses. An oak framed house, if looked after properly, can last many hundreds of years, far longer than the time taken to grow the trees used in it. This makes oak an ideal material for sustainable housing.

New Hospitals Benefit from Zero Waste Waterproofing System
The state-of-the-art new hospital in Wakefield is one of three hospitals benefitting from a PermaTEC EcoWrap hot melt system, installed by national building envelope contractor, Prater. PermaTEC EcoWrap, developed by IKO PLC, is the world’s most advanced and innovative hot melt waterproofing system, delivering a range of environmental benefits and market leading performance. In total over 15,000 m2
of the material
has been used on roof areas at the Wakefield site. PermaTEC EcoWrap features new wrapper technology which blends into the material when heated, removing the need for heavyweight cardboard packaging and eliminating site waste. The product requires lower application temperatures on site which speeds up installation and uses less energy. It is also manufactured in the UK, with a dramatically lower carbon footprint than imported systems. Following the successful installation at Wakefield, Prater proposed the use of over 16,000 m2 of PermaTEC EcoWrap hot melt at two further hospitals in Walsall and Caerphilly. It is also being used on numerous other prestigious projects, including the Olympic Games Stadium, Stratford City Shopping Centre and several Building Schools for the Future schemes.
