Mooli’s comes to Soho

Founded by former city executives Sam Singh and Mathew Chandy, Mooli’s is the latest addition to the thriving Soho food scene. Located on trendy Frith Street, and with an interior design provided by Kevin Fellingham and Nick Hornig, the restaurant is serving Indian street food with what is described as a new spin. Mooli’s offers freshly baked bread and warm fillings that have been created

by former Benares chef, Raju Rawat, and include Keralan beef, Goan pork, chicken and apple, asparagus and cumin and potatoes and scrambled paneerr. Each filling comes with its own chutney prepared with spices such as coriander, mint, tomato, tam- arind, ginger, fennel, nigella seeds, mustard seeds, cumin, black pepper and chillies.

£5,000 fine for living upstairs

A Banstead restaurateur Steven Chiu has been fined £5,000 for not having license for people living above his restaurant Lotus Room. He was prosecuted by Reigate and Banstead Council under the Housing Act 2004 for operating a house in multiple occu- pation without a license. Officers from Environmental Health and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service had visited the premises before but were always told

no one was living there.

The Councillor Mike Miller explained the law is in place is to ensure mini- mum standard of basic amenities and fire safety for dwellers. He said that avoiding requirements at the risk of lives is not acceptable.
