Jim MacIntosh (standing), HCTV Facilitator, explains to Jeff Clegg the operations of the mixing board in the control room of HCTV
“We are more than willing to lend equipment, as well as train
anyone interested in making a production. Our facility is open to the public and the resources of this center are free to the public. While we are not set up to go out and do the production work or the filming for those interested, we are set up to teach, coach, train, and partner with those interested in making a production to be viewed on television,” stated O’Keefe. Currently, HCTV gives live cablecasts of Town Meeting and Annual School District Meetings, and live Election Day results. In addition, Board of Selectmen meetings and Hudson School Board Meetings are covered by live broadcasts. HCTV also has a broadcast truck used for remote recording of events. Please consult Channel 22 for a community bulletin board and schedule of broadcasts. Also, HCTV shares Channel 22 with the Town of Litchfield.
HCTV has been operating out of their new facility since January. Before the new center, HCTV operated their television studio from Hudson’s Town Hall.
During the coming summer, HCTV will be upgrading their HCTV
van so that the van will become a mobile production unit. “We intend to fully outfit the van so that when we go to remote events or sporting events, we can provide our audience with the finest product available,” continued O’Keefe.

Strength, and the Litchfield and Hudson Fire Departments have produced television productions for the public to view on channel 20. In addition, Adventures with Lee Lavoie, First Baptist Church services, Think Cake with Suzanne Roark, and wine-making have been entertaining HCTV subscribers for months. Rupert Cote, Vice Chairman of HCTV, commented, “We have
many different trades which can be taught here. Camera operation, production, public relations, editing, construction, directing, and lighting are only a few of the opportunities. Our professionals here can make a shadow disappear. Whether you are learning how to sit in front of the camera or learning how to maintain the equipment which supports the television industry, HCTV offers opportunities, free of charge to the entire Hudson community, to become involved, learn, and participate.”

Hudson Cable Television (HCTV) recently hosted an open house at their new facility located at 98 Old Derry Road. Those attending the open house were offered the opportunity to explore, examine, and exercise hands-on experiences with the cameras, lights, and electronic equipment. The professionals at HCTV were also on hand to advise would- be producers, directors, and those interested in having their project televised on how to go about their efforts. “HCTV has the equipment, cameras, and technology to help any

Selectmen Invite Hudson Department Heads to Departmental Review
by Doug Robinson
The Town of Hudson Board of Selectmen have invited the various department heads to attend future Board of Selectmen meetings to discuss items that they feel are important “going forward,” as stated by Chairman Ken Massey. “It has been four or five years since we had the departments come in outside the budget process to talk about the future needs,” stated Chairman Massey. He also stated that he would like to know the “things they would like to do other than that which they are currently doing.” Selectman Richard Maddox stated that he did not want the department heads to feel “it was a Spanish Inquisition; be here
eight minutes, and then off. It will be face time with the Board of Selectmen. They can talk about what is good, what is needed, their issues, and the issues we need to be aware of. We don’t want to be reactionary.”
Chairman Massey stated that one of the things important to the Board of Selectmen is the five-year capital requirements, and for them to do “more forward thinking of things coming down the road without the budget process in the background.” Selectman Roger Coutu added that he would like to hear from the Assistant Town Administrator as to how “we are going to market this town,” and that we “need to look at this very seriously and where we can prioritize.”
Hudson Cable Television Hosts Open House
Hudson resident get started with their television project. We are more than willing to teach, coach, and help those learn the business, or put together a program to be televised on our public access channel, Channel 20,” commented HCTV Chairman Michael O’Keefe. The new HCTV center was completely funded by the franchise fees that are assessed to those who have cable television. The center has been in the planning for many years, and the open house reflected the many years of planning that went into the making of the HCTV Center. The open house offered the public not only access to all areas of the center, but also hands-on learning experiences with “how easy it is to your ideas on television.” HCTV volunteers conducted hands-on demonstrations of the cameras, microphones, lighting, sound board, mixing board, as well as what goes into the actual production to televise a show. Selectman Roger Coutu, dressed as Julia Child Coutu, demonstrated for the audience how easy it is to make a television show, as he donned his hat, wig, apron, and oven mittens. While sipping “wine” from his Styrofoam cup and speaking in his best French accent, he, along with his assistant, Choloe Kroner of Hudson, entertained the visitors to the open house in the making of chocolate cake and a pepperoni pizza. The taped cooking lesson is now being shown on HCTV for all to enjoy.
