Gorilla man to spearhead coffee evolution
It’s official, John Gordon of London-based Gorilla Tampers, will go on to represent the UK at the World Barista Championship, after taking the top spot in the final of the UK Barista Championship, held at Hotelympia at the beginning of March. John - a finalist in last year’s World
Latte Art Championship held in Cologne - will now not only have home country advantage when the World finals come to Caffè Culture in June, he will also have home city advantage and with it, the support of many compatriots who will doubtless be in attendance to cheer him on as he does battle with representatives from 60 other countries. The UK final proved to be an exciting
and closely contested affair with John taking the best espresso, best cappuccino and best signature drink categories, and securing an 11.5 point margin between him and the nearest contender when the judges’ scoring was revealed. The previous day the 20 semi finalists
were whittled down to the top six.
