METROPOLITAN COFFEE BECOMES NEW BSA TRAINING SATELLITE
CENTRE. . . & JOINS FORCES WITH THE BATH COFFEE FESTIVAL
Metropolitan Coffee Company
has just
qualified as a BSA VRQ Training Centre, and is delighted to report that it will be putting six youngsters through their first full three- day BSA VRQ City & Guilds Barista Level 2 course on 16/17/18 March at its London training centre. This intensive, hands-on training will take
place ahead of the Bath Coffee Festival in Bath on 15/16 May 2010. The organisers of the Bath Coffee Festival have joined forces with Smart Training & Recruitment and the Metropolitan Kimbo Coffee Company to offer this course. Hilary Faulker, of Smart Training &
Recruitment said, “This is an excellent initiative to help jobseekers achieve highly regarded qualifications and get into employment. As experts in the hospitality sector we know there are plenty of good opportunities for candidates with the right qualifications. Employers also benefit from such highly relevant training, yet small
businesses often don’t realise they can benefit from Government grants for this.” The participants are all currently out of
work and are being assisted with placements in the coffee industry upon completion of the training. This is an ongoing commitment by Metropolitan towards raising training standards in the UK under the VRQ City and Guilds certification programme. The training course coincides with the launch of the Kimbo Coffee Academy,
which will happen monthly in Acton and focus on a return to traditional Italian (indeed Neapolitan) espresso. It is hoped that over this year many students will leave the courses and put quality espresso at the foundation of their hot beverage drinks menu. Angus McKenzie, of the Metropolitan Kimbo Coffee Company
said, “We are
pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile initiative. The coffee industry is often overlooked as a place to work but suitability qualified candidates can have very fulfilling careers. Our training will give the right people the break they need.” For further information please contact:
