UK COFFEE LEADER SUMMIT 2010

Allegra Strategies’ UK Coffee Leader Summit 2010 on the crest of a ‘Third Wave’

In 2010, how will your brand behave? “This year,” explained Jeffrey Young, managing director of Allegra Strategies, “will be all about embracing the ‘Third Wave’ coffee revolution”.

According to Allegra Strategies’ recently released ProjectCafé9 UK Report - responding to the influence of the new ‘third wave’ of artisan coffee shops and the impact of polarised competitive forces will be the key to coffee chains’ expected out-performance of most UK retail sectors as the economy recovers. The UK Coffee shop market has shown

remarkable resilience during recent recession. Allegra’s report shows that the total UK coffee shop market, including branded chains, independent and non- specialist operators, is now estimated at 11,063 outlets. Looking to the future of the marketplace, strong consumer demand for value for money is forecast, driven by increasing coffee knowledge, and focused efforts by chains to add more authenticity will reportedly be required to ensure that the branded coffee chain sector continues to outperform most UK economic sectors. Furthermore, the survey predicts that if operators respond appropriately, the total UK coffee shop market is forecast to grow by 4.4 per cent per annum to exceed 12,500 outlets by 2012.

Fresh Ideas. New

Contacts. Innovation.

The UK Coffee Leader Summit 2010 is - according to its organiser, Allegra Strategies - the most high-profile gathering of around 300 top executives from across the branded coffee shop, food-to-go and food-for-now sectors. This time around the massed throng will examine ‘The Third Wave’ revolution hitting the UK coffee industry, ‘the experiential

age of café culture’ and the future of the marketplace. Following the resounding success of last year’s event, this year’s much anticipated outing will take place in the heart of London’s vibrant Borough Market, at Vinopolis on 21 - 22 April 2010. Thought-provoking speeches,

innovative thinking and fascinating panel discussions are on the summit menu, which will allow participants to gain a 360° strategic overview of the rapidly evolving UK marketplace. During the day, speakers from some of the most admired, successful and growing concepts in the UK, will address and share views on a range of forward thinking themes. Panel discussions of the topics will also form a large part of the day’s programme, encouraging audience participation in an open forum, and no doubt sparking some controversial debate among senior decision makers.

Shared visions

The Summit will begin by addressing ‘The

Future of the Marketplace’. Top executives from Starbucks and Caffè Nero will be among those sharing their vision of what lies ahead for the UK coffee industry, from the perspective of the branded coffee chains.
