Ashley Holzer Awarded 2009 Equine Canada Equestrian of the Year

Ottawa, Ontario—Equine Canada is proud to name Ashley Holzer the 2009 Equestrian of the Year. As one of Canada’s most successful interna- tional dressage riders, Holzer won many Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle classes in 2009 with her talented 2008 Olympic mount Pop Art, a Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Rusty Holzer and Moreen Nicoll.

In addition to her multiple Grand Prix victo- ries, 2009 also saw Holzer and Pop Art earn top five finishes at both the CDI 5* Exquis World Dressage Masters in Wellington, FL, and Hickstead, GBR, as well as at the Rolex FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, NV.

Canada Wins Nations’ Cup in Wellington, Florida

Wellington, Florida – The Canadian Show Jumping Team claimed victory in the $75,000 Nations’ Cup, Presented by CN, held Fri- day night, March 5, in Wellington, FL.

The Canadian Team comprised of Mac Cone of King City, ON, Yann Can- dele of Nobleton, ON, Beth Underhill of Schomberg, ON, and anchor rider Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, won the event with a total of 5 faults. Mexico finished second with a final score of 13 faults while Ire- land was third with 29 faults. The home team of the United States finished fourth with 31 faults. A total of 11 coun- tries contested this year’s Nations’ Cup team event,
