I think if you give your competitors respect, you’ll get it in return. You can’t really think about it when you’re out there racing. There are too many other things on your mind.

SB: As you mentioned, you missed out on the Chase last season for the first time in your career. Does that still enter your mind or have you let it go?

MK: It definitely motivates me. It was hard not being involved in the Chase, it’s the goal you set at the beginning of each year and we were upset not to qualify. Having said that, I try to look ahead to this season and our next race. We try to improve each and every week and feel that if we do our jobs and have a little fun, we’ll be back in the Chase at the end of the year.

SB: You won at Texas Motor Speedway back in 2002 so you have good memories here. This year’s Samsung Mobile 500 on April 18th is a race and a track that many driver’s look forward to, I assume that includes you?

MK: First off I love the track. I love going to Texas to race. It’s an awesome facility and there is no better promoter of the sport than Eddie Gossage. He’s a master of promotion. The crowds are huge and they really get into the racing and it’s one of the events that I really look forward to all year long. A repeat of 2002 would be just about perfect.

SB: You’re from Wisconsin and are a devout Green Bay Packer fan. A few years ago at a Packer game you even traded helmets with Brett Favre. Are you still a Favre fan?

MK: Sure, even with him wearing a Vikings uniform I’ll always be a fan of Favre’s. When you grow up in Wisconsin you almost have to be a Packers fan. No matter where I live or who’s playing for them, I’ll always love the Packers.

SB: Any feelings about another Wisconsin native, Tony Romo?

MK: I think it’s cool that he’s from about an hour away from me but I’ve never really followed him. I’m a Packer fan not really for guys from Wisconsin. To be honest, you hardly ever see any Cowboy uniforms in Wisconsin. So I really don’t care one way or another about him. If you’re asking who I would cheer for if the Cowboys and Packers meet in the playoffs, no question it’s all Packers.
