Schools shape their students in many ways.
On Thursday at Presentation of Mary Academy (PMA) in Hudson, that was true when King Arthur Flour shared the tradition of baking bread with the fourth- through eighth-grade students. The King Arthur Flour Life Skills Bread Baking Program has, in the past decade, taught more than 100,000 school children a tradition mostly lost in today’s fast-paced world. This science lesson
served a dual purpose at the Catholic school, as it was Holy Thursday, the start of the Easter weekend celebration. King Arthur Flour Life Skills instructor Kerry Pollner, with hands-on help from Ashley and Francis Eppolito, walked the students through the process of how yeast mixed with water releases carbon dioxide
(CO2 ), relative to how to measure, mix, knead,
and even bake the dough to make bread. Pollner stated that she loves teaching the skill of bread baking—a hands-on way for kids to

Members of the CHS Student Council and the CHS Film Club celebrate their achievements together
by Doug Robinson
The 2nd annual Campbell High School Oscars Night is back and everyone is waiting to walk the red carpet. Movies directed and created by CHS students premiered in the auditorium to an enthusiastic audience of family, friends, classmates, and staff and faculty of CHS. Seven movies, written, produced, acted, and directed by CHS students, competed for the honors of winning the awards of Best Cinematography, Originality, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Movie. Oscars Night was a collaborative project between the CHS Student Council and CHS Film Club. The seven original films were shown on the “big screen” to the applause and cheers of the filled auditorium.

“Oscar Night is a fundraising event for us to raise monies to support our Spring Fest events,” stated
Ashley Prindle, Student Council President. “The Film Club teamed up with the Student Council, and worked together to produce this event.” When the votes were tallied, Cats won Best Cinematography and editing. The Originality award went to The Talk. Best Supporting Actor was won by Henry Hines of The Sitcom and the Best Supporting Actress was won by Becca Howard of Campbell Night Live. Best Actor was won by James Amadio of I’m So Lame, and Best Actress was won by Alyson Stapleton of Campbell Night Live. Best Movie honors went to Cats. Student Council Advisor, Shawn McDonough, commented, “These kids are amazing. The students conceived and created these movies by themselves. They did it as a team, and they worked together. Tonight is a night where we really celebrate the talents and achievements of these kids.”
This is My Hero Dad
by Doug Robinson
Four little words said it all. Above the clamor and restlessness of those waiting, the tiny voice belonging to first grader Paris Prunier could be clearly heard bouncing off the cafeteria walls as she boldly shouted loud and clear for all to hear, “This is my hero Dad.”
Neither all the applause nor cheers combined could deafen the importance of those four words of appreciation and love from the little girl all dressed up in her pretty dress. Eyes teared up and everyone in attendance stood erect as they applauded for Litchfield’s Specialist Christopher. He was walking the receiving line of Mrs. Johnstone’s first-grade class of 17 tiny tots, shaking hands and slapping high-fives while he embraced and tried to understand the magnitude of love being outpoured to him. Two lines were formed, giving our American soldier a one-way walkthrough to enter into the cafeteria, where he was given a hero’s welcome home. The welcome home event was dubbed as a “meet and greet my class in his uniform,” stated young Paris. But what was really scheduled was a full-blown hero’s welcome for one of Litchfield’s finest Americans, Specialist Christopher Prunier. Since last October, the first-grade students
have sent gifts, pictures, food, and letters of love to their fellow first-grade student Paris Prunier’s dad, Specialist Christopher Prunier, 1st Engineer Battalion, 111th Sapper Company, who is serving our country in Iraq. “Paris Prunier’s dad is serving our country and fighting the in the war over
in Iraq, and the children thought it would be a great idea to send to Paris’ dad, as well as to his soldier friends, care packages this Christmas to show their appreciation for what they are doing,” commented Paris’ first-grade teacher, Mrs. Johnstone. The students continue to write to our soldiers, and the soldiers continue to write to the young first- grade students. As a project last year, the 17 students in Mrs.
Johnstone’s class received donations of gum, deodorant, games such as Uno, checkers, and chess, pretzels, books, games, candy, vitamins,
