‘Wine and Old Bags’ all about purses

Shop for new and gently used designer purses at Chandler Service Club’s second “Wine and Old Bags” fundraising event for charity from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun., April 11 at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in downtown Chandler.

New and gently used purses will be available for silent auction and direct purchase, and boutique jewelry and other items will also be available to buy. Additional items will be raffled off throughout the evening. Wine and decadent desserts from Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers will be served.

Chandler Service Club, established in 1933, also provides musical instruments for children, and donates to other organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs, ICAN, Children’s Cancer Network, Chandler Care Center and the Ronald McDonald House. Day of fun, fitness in Chandler

Chandler is encouraging residents to participate in a Day of Fun and Fitness, Sat., April 17, along the City’s scenic Paseo Trail. Two events will take place that will provide a great opportunity for families to get a little exercise and show support for their community.

ICAN Family Fun Run

The 3rd Annual ICAN Family Fun Run will kick off the day with a two-mile run/walk to raise money for ICAN, a Chandler nonprofit out-of-school-time program helping youth at risk.

Children will enjoy a scavenger hunt along the trail to locate a variety of animals and other items. The event begins and ends at Tumbleweed Park beneath the McDowell Mountain Pavilion. Event day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the Fun Run and a timed race for serious runners commence at 8:30 a.m. There will be information booths by local businesses before and after the run, including from Blacker Orthodontics, Curves, Glad 2 Be Home, Club Del Sport, 360 Vantage and Kids Dental. A limited number of booths are still available by calling 480-732-0250. The pre-race fee is $10 per person before April 15, or $15 on race day; children ages 12 and younger are free. All paid participants will receive a T-shirt, certificate of completion and goodie bag. There will also be information booths by local businesses before and after the run.

Downloadable entry forms are available online by visiting www.icanaz.org and clicking on the Calendar of Events tab. Completed registration forms, along with a check made out to ICAN Family Fun Run, should be mailed to P.O. Box 23, Chandler, AZ 85244. Proceeds will help ICAN empower Chandler’s youth to be productive, self-confident and responsible citizens.
