The deadline is April 15 for 13- to 18-year-old youths to enter the 22nd Annual Sister Cities International Young Artists Showcase, sponsored for the first time by the Chandler Irish Cultural Council (CICC), the City of Chandler’s new Sister City affiliate. The CICC, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, represents the “twinning” between Chandler and Tullamore, Ireland, and received its proclamation from the City of Chandler in August 2009.
Young artists are invited to create a piece of art with the 2010 theme “Your World,” which challenges young artists to answer the question “What makes you, you?” “International travel and cultural exchanges can impact lives in many different ways,” according to

submission information. “Young artists are asked to show how cultures and experiences have impacted their ideas and perspectives of the world.”
Entries must be two-dimensional and no larger than 24 by 30 inches. Watercolor, oil, pastel, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, mixed media as well as computer- generated art are all acceptable media. Area high school art teachers will receive a packet of information and are encouraged to share it with their students. Students may also pick up entry information at di Sciacca Glass and Vision Gallery in downtown Chandler. Entries must be submitted with a $5 entry fee.
Ten finalists will be selected from the total entries, and will be on display at the annual sister city conference in
