Short film fest at ASU
ASU Art Museum hosts its 14th Annual Short Film and Video Festival at 8 p.m. Sat., April 17, outdoors on the plaza of the Nelson Fine Arts Center directly behind the ASU Art Museum in Tempe.
Admission is free and open to the public, but attendees should bring their own seating.
Over 490 entries were submitted to the Festival from across the U.S. and 33 different countries. After a rigorous jury process, only 21 were chosen to be included in the one-night outdoor festival.
“We were very impressed with the quality of the entries we received this year, particularly from artist with ties to the Arizona community,” says John Spiak, curator of the ASU Art Museum. “We don’t consider where film and video makers are based as part of the selection process, so it’s nice to see that, at the end of the day, we can shine a spotlight on some talented local artists this year.” Valley artists in this year’s festival include Robert Kilman and Safwat Saleem of Phoenix and their film “Phoenix: City of the Future,” and Saxon Richardson of Phoenix with the film “Send Green Grass Uphill.”
The ASU Art Museum is located at Mill Avenue and 10th Street in Tempe. For more information, visit http://asuartmuseum.asu.edu/filmfest.
