"Some people are intimidated by the thought of taking 'green initiatives' because they think it will be expensive or beyond their capabilities," explains Phelps. June 11-20—Yoga Immersion Part I Sept 10-19—Full Certification: Realize the Dream Part II
Aside from their work on the project's main solar goal, Project GEO members incorporate environmental practices into their own lives on a regular basis. Most are involved in the school's re- cycling program, and they were active volunteers at the City of Palm Coast's Third Annual Christmas Tree Recycling Event in January. Now they have gener- ated a Green Tip of the Week blog to give suggestions to curious community members on how to become "greener" everyday. This can be found on www. flaglerschools.com. Although all but two members of Project GEO will graduate this year, the legacy they have built will continue on. The outreach created by this group has helped make a difference in the planet and altered the mindset of many. Member Ashley Hawes imparts the wisdom, "It only takes one person to start a movement, we are lucky enough to have six agents of change."
