Teach Your Children Well

We can all breathe a sigh of relief - FCATs are over!

While this standardized test seems to be the focus of the curriculum in our schools throughout much of the year, don’t despair! Teachers and counselors in our schools are busy engaging students in and out of the classroom. Western High students had an opportunity to check out a variety of colleges at the school’s College Fair, recently. A group of film students from Cooper City High School attended the National Television Convention and two of the students teamed up and took first place in the short documentary category. Read these wonderful stories in this issue and you’ll realize that our kids are learning a lot more than just FCAT workbook material.

This issue we meet Debbie Zelman - a truly amazing woman on a mission to fund better treatment for stomach cancer in hopes that a cure will be found. Read about Debbie’s own battle with the disease and the inspirational efforts put forth by her and her “Dream Team” (article on page 34).

Enjoy the issue!
