Remember when you are moving house to notify your provider for Broadband otherwise, unless you are with BT of course, you will not have Broadband when you arrive. Not only will you not have the internet, but you will
more than likely have to pay a connection fee and wait for more than 5 days for it to be connected. These days, that can be extremely frustrating as we all need the internet much more than ever before.
Remember the days when you could see what the Disk Defragmenter was doing? I have always found it to be mildly satisfying. Well, with Vista and 7 that is now no longer possible. However, with Piriform defraggler it can be visible again! Piriform also write Ccleaner which is another program we approve of that we find very useful for cleaning out those temporary files. Just Google “defraggler” and you will find it. It is a very powerful program so other applications will run slowly when it is running.
We have already mentioned computeraid.org as a new home for your old PC without having to take it to the tip. Spotted in the Western Morning News is computers4africa.org.uk who actually come to Devon and
Cornwall on a semi-regular basis to collect PCs. They have to be 5 years old or younger and in a working condition so this might be a better option for you if you do not want to pay for it to be taken away.
A Browser Choice update is available to users who are located in member countries of the European Economic Area. The update is available to download through Windows Update.This update creates a shortcut on your desktop. This shortcut lets you visit a Web page in which you can select which Web browser you want to install. Additionally, the first time that you log on to the computer after you install the update, Windows Internet Explorer starts automatically and displays the Browser Choice Web page.
Young Tim has asked me to put in a reminder that we do sell computers. We have had a good number of people this month who have gone elsewhere to buy their machine, then called us in to fix something only to realise that they could have bought a PC from us with a whole lot less hassle. We sell quality machines from Comet at their prices and we come and set it up and transfer everything, leaving you with a working computer as soon as we leave the house.
