Headlining is Mitch Benn, one of the most sought-after acts on the UK comedy circuit. He is regular on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Now Show’ and has also had three series of ‘Mitch Benn’s Crimes Against Music’ on the same station. On TV he is a frequent guest on BBC 1’s ‘The One Show’ and has performed on Channel 4’s ‘Bremner, Bird and Fortune’. Opening the show is Sam Avery (pictured right) with a middle section from Luke Benson, and the compere for the evening is Scott Denyer.

Since launching in 2006, the Comedy@The Chess club has now hosted getting on for 150 comedians and presented over thirty shows.

The club was
originally launched by the football club’s
Supporters’ Trust with a one-off fundraising show to raise money for repairs to the clubhouse. Norman Lovett (Holly from Red Dwarf) was the first headliner and he put on a fantastic show.
Building on that first success the club started to run as a monthly event and gradually brought in top quality sound and lighting. The formula has now developed into a stand up comedy club
that regularly attracts some of the most respected acts on the UK circuit.
A typical show consists of three comedians plus a compere and previous acts include regular TV and radio performers such as Terry Alderton, Robin Ince, Paul Tonkinson, Nick Revell, Jim Tavare and Zoe Lyons.
Advance booking is recommended to guarantee a seat and online

Most of our acts are regulars at some of the best known comedy venues in the country – they are often fitting a visit to Chesham in amongst slots at places like London’s Comedy Store or Jongleurs. Local acts are also often given the opportunity to perform in the ‘pre-show’ slot to get more experience.
