BEST OF BRITAIN & IRELAND SHOWGUIDE 2010
Welcome…
Welcome to Best of Britain & Ireland, Britain’s only official exhibition dedicated exclusively to domestic tourism.
It is also a culmination of the fourth annual British Tourism Week, marking its place as not only a must-attend event of the tourism calendar, but also as a celebration of how tourism supports everyone of us, all over Britain, every day.
Tourism, Britain’s fifth largest industry contributes over £114 billion to the UK’s economy annually and supports nearly 2.7 million jobs nationwide. As a nation we host 32 million people from overseas. And a great place to visit is a great place to live. Every British person benefits from our tourism product; our heritage, our food and drink, our shops and hotels, our attractions and countryside, our pubs and clubs, our coastline and our sports. Best of Britain & Ireland brings together all of this product, under one roof.
After the enormous success of the inaugural event last spring, 2010 will see a bigger and better event for all, with hundreds of exhibitors from across the regions and nations of Britain and Ireland, meeting thousands of domestic and overseas tourist operators, group travel organisers, coach operators and travel agents and British consumers.
The first two days - now moved to a mid week slot - are trade-focussed and will encompass business to business meetings, seminars and exhibitors to profile Britain’s diversity as a destination and to provide you with the contacts and inspiration that you need for your holiday and short-break programmes. VisitBritain’s hosted buyer programme will enhance the route to overseas customers welcoming around 250 travel and tourism buyers from over 30 countries around the world. There will also be a new hosted programme for domestic buyers from the coach and group travel organiser sectors present.
The weekend will see the public journey to Olympia to experience the whole country’s diversity in the rich variety of accommodation for all budgets in every destination, be it heritage, landscapes and coastlines, world class cities or unique culture. We may be officially out of recession, but only just and there has never been a better time for you to holiday at home. And this event will help facilitate and inspire you to do so.
Wishing you a successful and enjoyable Best of Britain & Ireland.
