Why Wales in 2010?

Following the year of the ‘staycation’ more holidaymakers than ever have been rediscov- ering the joys of a holiday closer to home and this year Wales has more to offer than ever.

Food glorious food: This year,

the Michelin Guide awarded the most stars for culinary excellence in Wales since 2003. Why not take a culinary tour of the country and take in all four stars? Or, for those aspiring to their own Michelin star, Welsh chef and food writer Angela Gray (www.angelagray.co.uk) has recently launched a new food school venture across Wales. Foodies can learn anything from the basics upwards, including lessons in foraging for ingredients and the best ways to use local produce.

Get golfing: If you’re looking to get a bit more active this year, why not give golf a try? With the Ryder Cup coming to Wales for the first time in 2010 there’s never been a better time or place to learn how to play.

Golf clubs across the country are getting into the Ryder Cup spirit and offering lessons for all ages and abilities.

Festival fever: As summer rolls around and festival fever takes over, head to Hay-on-Wye for the Hay Literary Festival 26 May – 6 June, with the annual gathering

of writers, comedians and musicians to revel in all things literary.

Stay the night: If all this takes your fancy then Welsh Rarebits (www.welshrarebits.co.uk) is the next stop. A collection of luxury hotels and country houses across Wales, Welsh Rarebits has been seeking out superior accommodation for decades and is now celebrating its 25th anniversary.
