Ireland gets festive in 2010
In a country where the festive spirit runs wild right through the year, you’ll discover a huge range of fabulous festivals that celebrate Ireland’s fascinating culture, breathtaking scenery, buzzing cities, great food, music and arts scenes and so much more.
Typical of the breadth of Ireland’s cultural offering is the acclaimed Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast, which showcases the latest in the arts in Belfast’s cultural hub each April. In July, the famous Galway Arts Festival features superb theatre, dance and music from around the world. October alone brings three magnificent arts festivals – the Wexford Opera Festival, Belfast Festival at Queens and Cork Jazz Festival.
You can enjoy exhilarating sporting festivals too, like the thrilling North West 200, one of the world’s most exciting motorcycle road races, which roars through
an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the world famous Giant’s Causeway in May. The Lonely Planet guide listed Cork among its top ten best cities in 2010, so why not time your visit to welcome the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in nearby Kinsale in July.
Ireland’s wonderful natural produce is celebrated in a host
of mouthwatering food festivals like the Hillsborough Oyster Festival, A Taste of West Cork and the Galway International Oyster Festival, all in September.
And if you can wait until next year, the world’s biggest party, the St Patrick’s Day Festival, brings music, dance, drama and amazing spectacle to Irish towns and cities for several days of high-octane fun each March.
With thousands of fantastic festivals and events through the year to enjoy, as well as our famous visitor attractions, it’s always the perfect time to visit Ireland!
