National & Regional Round-up
Yorkshire
A LONG WEEKEND IN YORKSHIRE ISN’T LONG ENOUGH
Yorkshire is home to three national parks, a stunning coastline and five great cities - with so much to see, do and enjoy, a long weekend
in Yorkshire isn’t long enough.
Visit the honey-coloured villages of the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales (pictured) and have a meal in one of the traditional country pubs. Or, for a more scented adventure visit Dalby Forest, west of Scarborough and walk forest trails through beautiful woodland. Soak up the scenery of the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast with fishing villages, sandy beaches and a coastline of international geological importance.
For the discerning traveller Yorkshire has six Michelin starred restaurants to choose from – more than any other region outside of London – urban chic in
cosmopolitan and vibrant cities and spa retreats to rival the best on offer in the UK. Not to mention some of the country’s best guesthouses, boutique and historic hotels, all with a guaranteed warm Yorkshire welcome.
Must see this Spring:
UCI 2010 Mountain Bike World Cup, 23rd to 25th
April. The world’s best cross-country mountain bikers will descend on Dalby Forest North Yorkshire for the opening round of the World Cup.
Dales Festival of Food and Drink, 1st to 3rd May.
Upwards of 12,000 visitors attend this bumper festival of food and drink in the beautiful setting of Wensleydale.
