Olympia exhibition centre is working hard to improve their sustainability and whilst you are at the event please help them to minimise their impacts by:
using the recycling bins that collect plastics, paper and cans to recycle any rubbish you have using the low energy hand-dryers in the washrooms rather than paper towels travelling to the venue by public transport
Recycling the rubbish and waste left at our venues is an important part of our work on sustain- ability. All waste that goes into the general waste bins is compacted and then either sent to waste for energy plants where the energy is recovered and used to power local homes or to a transfer station where the rubbish is sorted by hand and only a minimal amount sent to landfill.
In 2009 Olympia and Earls Court were the first UK venues to be certified to BS 8901, Sustainable Event Management System. The venues are also part of the Green 500 scheme and currently going through assessment for Green Tourism Business Scheme.
