It’s important to me that everything we make remains UK made – and preferably made in the studio or just down the road. It’s the only way to keep the range quirky and different.

How did you find the experience of writing your new book? Is it something you are keen to do again?

It was really daunting at first but the team at David and Charles were so supportive and the process was very well structured so I knew exactly what I had to do when – it was just a matter of hoping that inspiration would coincide with deadlines!

I would love to do another book, I’d love to do something that was all about drawing and sketching

and collecting things – less of a ‘how to’ book and more of a design inspiration book.

What one tip would you offer to other small craft based businesses?

Always remember why you went into it and make sure you’re still enjoying yourself and always try to remain original and true to your own style.

What do you wish someone had told you?

I think I had all the advice I could possibly have needed – but I’m not sure I was always paying attention! I think you have to work in a bit of a vacuum sometimes to be able to do things differently and come up with things that are really original.
