Do you have a fond memory of building and flying your own kite? Maybe it was made with a supermarket
For a small fee, you can learn the right way to build
A student displays an Eddy kite that she built in a workshop
bag, or perhaps with tissue paper from a kit? Or perhaps you didn’t get that opportunity? Here’s your chance to create a memory with you
and your child. On Sunday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at the Hudson Recreation Center located at 2 Oakwood (near Dr. H.O. Smith School), Glenn Davison, world-renowned kite builder and flier, will hold a clinic where everyone can build and fly their own kite.
a kite. Glenn has done these classes across the country and around the globe. He is currently the Chair of the Education Committee of the American Kitefliers Association. So, he knows kites, and knows how to motivate and teach how to make them. In short, he knows his stuff. It wasn’t easy finding a day that he could come to Hudson. The list of places he has flown kites is breathtaking. Glenn has been a featured flyer at the Antigua Kite Festival, Bogotá Colombia Festival de Verano, Dieppe International Kite Festival, Verdun International Kite Festival, Wildwood International Kite Festival, St. Placide Winter Festival in Canada, Kites on Ice Winter Festival in Wisconsin, Taipei International Kite Festival in Taiwan, and the International Kite Festival in Gujarat, India. He has been featured on HGTV, in the Boston Globe, Kiting Magazine, and many other publications. The Hudson Cub Scouts are sponsoring Glenn along with the Hudson Recreation Department. Children of all ages are welcome, but parents are required to attend (for free). The Cub Scouts will also be signing up boys for Cub Scouts. If you’re looking for a day camp or resident camp for your son this summer, both options are available. Registrations will also be open for the fall Cub Scout season. There’s really nothing else like flying a
kite. Don’t miss this chance to create a memory that will last a lifetime for your child, and for you.
