Discovery Stops that were designed to provide various educational opportunities through play. Is your child feeling creative? Let your child explore the Art Stop stocked with activities that change daily. In the mood to build? Visit the Construction Stop and let your child’s imagination soar. The idea for The Discovery Stop was conceived after speaking with many parents and educators from surrounding communities. They all agreed that we needed to have more educational places for children to visit to develop both physically and intellectually. Physical benefits include the development of muscle groups, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. There is also evidence that play improves language, communication, and learning skills, while building self-confidence. The Discovery Stop is open for play every day. No restricted hours, and no appointment or registration required. Stop in and play today!
Litchfield Little School
Pre-school and Pre-kindergarten Classes for the 3- and 4-Year-Old Child
At Litchfield Little School, we believe that pre-school is a “gift” that you give to your child, and that you are investing in your child’s educational experience. Young children need a well-balanced program of academics, creative inspiration, social and motor skills, and play time to develop emotionally and socially. Most of all, young children need continuity in an established, loving, and safe environment. Selecting a school that is the right “match” for you and your child is important. Choosing a school where
you enjoy a partnership with the school staff is equally important. We offer morning pre-school for your 3-year-old. Pre- kindergarten classes for your 4-year-old are available both in the morning and the afternoon. Litchfield Little School is located near the Hudson/
Litchfield line at 8 Cutler Road in Litchfield. We offer a quality, affordably priced program. Call Dellann Frost, Teacher/Director, at 881-5888 to tour the school and meet the staff.
Birthday Parties are one of the most popular events
at The Discovery Stop. Along with playground time, a private party room and hostess give parents time to enjoy instead of “working” the party. The Discovery Stop offers both standard, themed, and activity parties. Pirate Parties, Princess Parties, Pajama Parties, Stuff-an-Animal Parties, and even Flashlight-tag are some of the options available. This summer, The Discovery Stop will offer our popular “Project Day” programs (Science discovery, craft and/or experiments, games, and more!), as well as our usual Classes, Craft Day, and Special Events, which will be offered each month.
New this summer: our Recession Busters programs,
which offer money-saving play and fun for kids. We will offer “Move-It Mondays,” which will offer free exercise and ballet classes for kids, as well as “Try-It Tuesdays,” which will offer free art projects that are kid favorites—fun and messy! Both programs are free with the cost of general admission! Visit www.thediscoverystop.com for hours and offers. The Discovery Stop is located at Londonderry Commons Plaza, 44 Nashua Road, in Londonderry. Call 421-2790, or visit www.thediscoverystop.com for more information.

Presentation of Mary Academy (PMA) is the Place to Be
by Stacy Jordan
The Presentation of Mary Academy (PMA) in Hudson has top-notch administrators and NH State Certified teachers. The Academy’s staff prides itself in joining hands with the parents, as an extension of the family unit, to develop students academically, developmentally, socially, and spiritually. The Academy has upgraded their classrooms
with brand-new starboards that are compatible with a computer, allowing for viewing on full- length, special white boards. These boards enhance a child’s learning ability by making it fun for the child to learn. Each student in
the eighth-grade class has access to their own notebook computer available during school. Also, PMA is currently updating their computer lab with all-new furniture, as well as desktop computers with flat screens for this coming fall semester. There are six-week enrichment courses available for the sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade classes, such as jewelry making, cooking, creative writing, drama classes, auto mechanics, and much more. It’s a great way to seek out new hobbies and talents that are not available in everyday classroom life. The biggest project yet is the introduction of a

brand-new, updated playground, which has been in the works for two years between raising funds and getting approvals. The playground will be completed on May 22 and 23, so student use will be allowed before this school year is over. The most inspiring way the Academy is raising funds is by their Wall of Hope. The Wall is made up of individual tiles, which the students, their families, staff, volunteers, and the public can buy. Once a tile is bought, the owner can decorate it and hang up on the Wall for a beautiful reminder of how hard everyone has worked to help with the playground project. The playground will be surrounded in

wood-fiber chips, which are the safest available for recreational use. New swings, a roller slide, monkey bars, a moving balancing bridge, and slides will be accessible. For youngsters, lower swings and slides are available for their safety. PMA holds high family values that
integrate into the school atmosphere on a regular basis. Once a month, they hold a fun activity that involves family, including bingo nights, family feud night, fun fest, father/daughter dances, and mother/son game nights. Give your child the gift of a private Catholic education consisting of teaching sound academics and respect for themselves and others, while instilling strong moral and social values. PMA will nurture the uniqueness and personal gifts of your child to enable them to have a positive self-image. A sound educational foundation enhanced with extracurricular activities and enrichment programs will help your child be successful during their educational journey and beyond. The Academy has an active parent organization that provides support with field trips, enrichment programs, and social activities. PMA had a devoted group of volunteers and we encourage our parents to participate in their children’s education. For more information, or to arrange a
private tour of our facility, please call June Nolet at 603-889-6054 X203. You may also find information at www.pmaschool.org. “PMA is the place to be, PMA helps me to be me.”
