Opening in 1987, Flowers On The Hill began with just two employees—Sue Hill and her dad, Archie Hill. Now, Sue employs five people, including three former shop owners, and is located in the Hudson Village Shops on Route 102. Sue has received many awards and accolades, including: Graduate of Master Floral Design’s inaugural class, the first designer in Hudson to do so, and ranked in Teleflora’s top 2,000 of more than 20,000 florists. She is a founding member of the NH State Florist Association.

Here are some tips: All flowers are not created equal, and while Tsubaki Flowers is careful to buy the freshest quality cut flowers available, the life span of a cut flower will vary. Some are very long lasting (think carnation, daisy, and Peruvian lily, to name a few) and can be enjoyed well past one week. While most cut flowers will last you at least a week (including roses, if they are fresh) there are, of course, those with a shorter vase life (such as bulb flowers) because they are more delicate or their blooms just aren’t meant to be in a vase for more than a few short days. Whatever the combination, you can easily remove spent blooms from your design – just as you would in your garden – to increase the overall life of a vase arrangement. Did you know that extensive tests have demonstrated that floral preservative is essential to healthy, long-lasting
blooms? When you receive a flower arrangement from Tsubaki Flowers, you can rest assured that the water in the vase already has a floral preservative in it. This provides the food necessary to allow each bloom to fully mature and last as long as possible while inhibiting the growth of bacteria that would turn the water cloudy or green and plug up the stems. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves Preheat oven to 325°F. Place ham on rack in shallow roast- ing pan. Stir together remaining ingredients in medium bowl; set aside. Bake ham for 30 minutes; pour glaze over ham and continue to bake until ham is heated through to 140°F, about a total of 21/2 hours (about 15-18 minutes per pound). Serves 20-25
