“Thumbs up to Pelham voters for voting a pay increase for the High School Administration. This pay raise ought to send a message to the administration that the poor NECAP test scores are in-line with the towns’ expectations. Heck, most of the town prefers a big new school over competent students. I like it when mediocrity is rewarded. However, I’m disappointed the vote on the new high school failed as my taxes would have increased while rewarding poor administrative performance. Darn! Let’s hope we can retain our current administrative talent and keep those scores low. I’m sure Pelham students don’t want to be competitive in the real world. Nice job voters.”

“Thumbs up to the Pelham voters. Thank you

Pelham voters for saying no to the champagne taste. We again said no to a new school. Put an addition onto the high school like we have been told for many years that we could. And we can. Pelham school board, hire a good builder.”

“Thumbs down to all the people who voted ‘no’ to a new high school and decided to put our children in an unsafe condition. It’s funny how all the older people got their addition approved.”

This morning I brought my daughter to her pediatrician. She is very approachable, so I asked her what she thought about building a school next to ‘power lines.’ She said that she had been reading about Pelham’s quest and she thinks that it is a bad idea, especially in light of the fact that National Grid & the World Health Organization say that they are known to be carcinogenic. She asked if the School Board had any idea of the lawsuits that could be brought to Pelham, them already having known that there was a problem. She said that the Town of Pelham would be ‘brought to their knees’ should children start getting sick. She also said that for children, the statute of limitations is longer than for adults, so that if they get sick in their 20’s their lawsuits would have a leg to stand on. She suggested having someone from National Grid or maybe a doctor speak to the School Board to inform them about all the known risks!”

“Thumbs down, a super big ‘thumbs down’ to the family displaying the torn and weathered American flag. It’s sad that they cannot take it down and replace it.”

“Thumbs up a great big ‘thumbs up’ to all the

‘no’ voters who voted down the new high school. You people are the best. We rock!”

“Thumbs up to Pelham voters for voting ‘no’

again. The hillbillies have spoken. Go back to Massachusetts where you came from if you don’t like this little New Hampshire town. For all the voters who voted ‘yes’ for the new high school, Tewksbury MA has houses for sale.”

“Thumbs down to the Pelham school board member who was dressed like she was raking her yard at our town meeting. Are you really going to move like you threatened to do? Can’t wait to see that for sale sign at the end of your driveway.”

“Thumbs down to the loud mouth in insulting

Ryan’s conclusion that because Pelham didn’t vote in the 45 million+ Taj Mahal that we don’t care about our kids education. Let’s look at a couple of examples: Brockton high in Brockton MA top 10 high school in region, city of Chicago another award-ridden school. Both these high schools can’t afford erasers for their pencils but are among the best. I am so sick of you trying to ram this not- voted-in high school down our throats.”

“Thumbs down to AEC construction of

Windham for leaving a mess behind and not fully picking up after their construction has been completed. Even though it’s been completely paid for you have left unfinished work and has not fallen through with the contract. Be careful who you hire, take it as a lesson learned.”

“Thumbs up for Dawn at the town hall for doing an excellent job. Very well appreciated and I want to thank her very much for all her help.”

“Thumbs down to the Pelham meanies who

wouldn’t buy us a new school. Sure times are tough. Do you think it’s easy making McMansion payments? Yet you expect us to pay for our own private schools and maintain our lifestyle? It’s bad enough our kids have to associate with your lower-class kids. Give us a break. It’s now our fault you can’t hold down a job.”

“Thumbs down to the Pelham school board.

“Thumbs up, a huge ‘thumbs up’ to PHS Staff and Administration. We are trying to give you the facility you so deserve!

“Thumbs up to all

the community members and guest readers who took time out of their busy schedules to read to students at the Read Across America Day at Pelham Elementary School. They are important role models sending the positive message that reading is for learning and for pleasure. Remember, ‘You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and

read with a child. You’re never too busy, too cool, or too hot, to pick up a book and share what you’ve got.’”

“Thumbs down to Pelham School bus driver!

The parents of these children are obviously unaware of this woman’s short temper and atrocious language! How is she allowed to work with children? I am appalled that this woman is representing the Pelham School District!”

“Thumbs down to California, you know what you did....”

“Thumbs down to the new school, that was the result of the vote and the recount. The people have spoken they don’t want and can’t afford a new school. If the school board wants to help the children they will expand the current high school and not waste time and money. Hopefully the crybabies will keep their word and move to another town. If they cared about their children they would open their checkbooks and send their children to private schools. But I don’t think they will give up their fancy import cars, vacations etc. I will be celebrating that my taxes won’t be go though the roof.”

“Thumbs up for reporting the chairman of

the conversation board for giving out the land maintenance with NO BIDS. Let’s give all the landscapers a chance to clean up trees and cut the grass on conservation land by having a biding process. The conservation checking account belongs to the taxpayers.”

“Thumbs down to the person that wrote ‘thumbs down’ to all the people that wanted a new High School. If you had a clue, you would know that houses aren’t selling right now.

If

anyone should move to Windham, it should be you!”

“Thumbs up to Spring! I heard the walls

cracking at Pelham High the other day, now that it is spring we can take our classes outside. I will no longer be scared of the walls crumbling down before my very eyes.”

realize that just because a new high school is ‘on sale’ you don’t need to buy it when you can’t afford it even at the ‘sale’ price.”

“Thumbs down to people that make such a big deal about words. Admittedly, I didn’t see this ‘disgusting, deplorable and offensive’ t-shirt that is apparently melting the eyes of our sweet innocent children, causing them to run like savages through the streets, and scarring them for life - but I can’t possibly imagine what it could be. Did you stop to think that if you didn’t make such a big deal out of something, it wouldn’t be such a big deal to them? Maybe explained to your children about appropriate clothing choices or have a discussion about what they thought about it (if they even noticed)? Take a deep breath and relax - save the faux outrage for something more important.”

“Thumbs up to those who voted NO for the new Pelham High School & fire station. A building does not ensure a great education - only the educators - My vote goes for doing away with tenure. Why is it the Pelham Town Hall & Police Station tripled in size when they converted the Sherburne School-- surely they could have added two bedrooms and a 4-stall garage for the Fire Department. The plans for the new fire station were totally unreasonable. On a final note when do they plan to complete the front of the Library (Shutters) and the Town Hall which faces Marsh Road - hopefully the trees and shrubbery will soon grow and mask what probably should have been filled in with brick...”

“Thumbs down to the Pelham

college and need the accreditation? Well I’m glad I voted down on the schools. And I will continue to vote down the school until parents are parents and take care of their children.”

“Thumbs down for the condition of North

Lowell Road in Windham. It is absolutely in atrocious, horrible condition. The state needs to do something about it. The people in charge of state-run roads need to do something immediately.”

“Thumbs down to Pelham’s Deb Ryan and her farmhands still trying to force that horse to take a drink. How did that recount go for you. You also need to forget Plan B the bond issue. You need to regroup, forget your pride and your issues and offer an alternative affordable solution that everyone will finally support.”

“Thumbs down to the person in Pelham who

moved to Pelham because it was a quaint town. By moving here and not wanting it to grow is kind of selfish on their part. They got their place in Pelham and now want no one else to move in. Shame on them.”

ACES School Committee ‘Street Gang.’ Who are these people? Who/What gave them the Legitimacy/Credibility to make a recommendation on behalf of me or any other town member? This is the same idea that has been presented for years. Why not be more creative? All you did was to reiterate the noise that has been presented in the past. You gave yourself a name to snowball people into thinking you were a legitimate committee. You can’t perform any analysis, SWOT etc., if all the members of the gang are already doing the ‘group think.’”

“Thumbs up to Pelham’s high school for an attainable, affordable, alternative improvement and addition. Not a 45 million dollar tax disaster.”

“Thumbs down to the Windham middle

school lunch ladies. I think their behavior was very unprofessional. I was there to volunteer my time with the medieval and they were real rude about using their kitchen and facilities it should be a public place to have fun with our children but they were just so rude and unprofessional. ‘Thumbs down’ to you ladies, first of all you smelled like smoke, I don’t know if you are smoking while you’re cooking or doing whatever you are doing. But you were very unprofessional.”

“Thumbs down to Windham high laptops. They are useless and they are a deterrent to the children learning. All they do is go on Google and games. Bring back the textbooks.”

“Thumbs down to the town of Pelham. When

they were doing the count originally for the school there were children up who should’ve been in bed and not at the counting. If they are so interested in getting their children highly educated in the town of Pelham, it starts with a good night’s rest. Put your kids to bed!”

“Thumbs down. I so sick and tired of reading about these ‘thumbs down’ because we didn’t vote for the high school here in Pelham. And then I’m reading about those doing drugs in the school hallways in front of the other kids. Excuse me? Are these the kids who going to be going to

“Thumbs down. Now that

March 9th is behind us and a lot of people are upset that not a lot has passed, we need to look at all the requests that totaled over 50 million dollars. People are very nervous to spend 45 million dollars on just one request and because the one request is so large people are not able to support the other requests. The 45 million dollar school is stopping our future town’s progress. Please reduce that number.”

“Thumbs down to our newly elected budget committee member. After the vote he celebrated in a local movie theater. Again, it happened last year after the vote as well.”

“Thumbs down to Ryan B’s secrets and a plan for a possible special back door sneak vote for the high school just like the teachers snuck in a new contract vote. Pelham voters send out a resounding no vote once and for all.”

“Thumbs up to Linda, Lorraine, and Kevin who

have had to withstand some of the ugliest, most vicious attacks from the pro-high school group I have ever seen. Where have you people come from? Maybe it’s time you go back.”

“Thumbs up to using the word progressive instead of liberal. An ‘A’ for effort is certainly deserved. You’ve almost got all of us silly independents fooled. I guess you could just cross your fingers and hope that people don’t realize that an organization only needs to ‘re-brand’ when things aren’t working or nobody really wants to buy what they’re selling. Just ask ValuJet - errrrrr, I mean ‘AirTran.’ Hmmm, Coca-Cola, Apple & Microsoft have never had to change their names. Interesting.”

“Thumbs up to Pelham Travel Basketball for

providing a wonderful ‘kid friendly’ year end dinner/dance. It was nice to see the children having so much fun!!!”

“Thumbs up. Thank you to Pelham Travel Basketball for the best year-end party! We all had an awesome time with our teammates. Thanks.”
