While the music competition Canadian Idol may have introduced many Canadians to Seven Persons for the first time, this hamlet of about 750 was a favorite stop for Medicine Hat, Calgary and Lethbridge drivers long before Amberly Thiessen took sixth place in the television show in 2008.
Local meat shop Premium Sausage, which specialises in homemade European-style sausages has seen fans of its products drive hundreds of kilometres to stock up.
To the south of the town, Red Rock Coulee offers visitors some of the largest exposed sandstone formations in North America. The unusually rounded red boulders draw numerous photographers and hikers to the area.

The Seven Persons school is a major community hub, hosting well attended Christmas concerts, family dances and other events.
The hamlet also has a community hall, skating rink, and local pub.
There are two explanations for the town’s unusual name. According to one version, rail workers building a line to connect the South Saskatchewan River and United States border stumbled across seven graves while working in the area.
The other version tells of a battle between Blood and Cree tribes in the area. The area was supposedly given an aboriginal name which translates to Seven Persons - the number of Cree killed during the encounter.
