ongframlington Gardens is a centre for gardeners, plants and garden design. Boasting beautiful panoramic views and open skies, it really is a little oasis of calm and beauty, set just far enough
off the beaten track, nestled in the heart of the Northumberland countryside,. The gardens were established by Hazel Huddleston in 1998 and since then have gone from strength to strength. Developed from green pasture, this 12 acre garden project is owned and designed by Hazel herself, an experienced horticulturist, plants person and garden designer with over 35 years experience in the horticultural industry.
THE GARDENS & ARBORETUM
The garden itself offers its visitors a living plant exhibition, with well over a thousand types of shrubs, trees, climbers, herbs, perennials and rock garden plants. The design concept that under pins the garden is one of low maintenance, informality and all year round interest. All the plants grown are for living in the Northern climate, though this winter will have tested some to their limit. The garden and arboretum walk allows visitors to enjoy this unique garden at their leisure. It includes the Wild meadow, with ‘Nature at Longframlington Gardens’ as another main theme. THE PLANT COLLECTION AND LIVING EXHIBITION OF PLANTS
The plant collection, as a living and growing
encyclopaedia of hardy ornamental plants, is designed and planted to give colour, texture, foliage, flowers and fragrance throughout the seasons. The clever planting demonstrates the many aesthetic and environmental values of our rich heritage of plants. The gardens offer an individual and unique modern garden and plant design for the many visitors to enjoy.
NURSERY & PLANT CENTRE
Whether you are making a garden, a gardening beginner, plant connoisseur or just looking for inspiration the nursery and plant centre is well worth a visit. The nurseries at Longframlington Gardens grow and offer for sale most of the plants that can be seen growing in the gardens. The plants are all container grown in outdoor conditions producing hardy plants for all year planting.
THE GARDEN DESIGN AND ADVISORY SERVICE
The service offered by Hazel Huddleston, is a key part of Longframlington Gardens, and operates throughout the North of England. It includes garden advice, surveys, reports, layout and planting plans, through to maintenance schedules with full back up information. It also offers a comprehensive landscape service, so can take its designs through to completion, but many customers want plans that they can implement themselves.
