Kindie call – Parents of children entering kindergarten in the 2010-11 school year should register their children by taking their children’s birth certificates, immunization records and proof of address to the school. School Cents – Hancock is participating in the Chandler Fashion Center School Cents Program. When shopping at any Chandler Fashion Center or Urban Village Store prior to April 15, take receipts to Guest Services located inside the mall on the upper level across from Barnes and Noble. Mention Hancock to get a stamp on all receipts. Recycle time – Hancock is still collecting printer cartridges and personal electronic devices for recycling. In 2007, the Hancock Nature Club joined Cartridges for Kids, a program that donates to the school in return for recycling those items. So far, more than $1,000 has been earned for the Nature Club and music programs at Hancock. The money has helped to purchase music, instruments, software and equipment, as well as to help with transportation and fees for field trips. This is a year- round program at Hancock and those items are accepted at any time; however, a special drive will be conducted in April and May. Bring any used electronics or empty printer cartridges to the recycle box in the front office at Hancock or to Mr. Landon’s Room 15. Tax credit – Donations for 2010 to Hancock are welcome any time starting now. Up to $400 can be donated, and tax credit will be given for the full amount. Thanks to the Hancock families who have already contributed.

Class acts – Fourth-graders are learning how water moves through the water cycle. This knowledge will come in handy when they attend the City of Chandler-sponsored “Water Day” on April 30 at Tumbleweed Park. On that day, the fourth-graders will participate in a number of exploratory, hands-on water activities reinforcing what they learned in school and stressing the importance of conservation.
