LightRain Images holds wine tasting, flamenco
The general public, along with friends, associates and customers of LightRain Images, a photography studio in downtown Chandler, are invited to a “blind” wine tasting open house at 6 p.m. Fri., March 26.
“See which wine you really like before looking at the labels,” explains owner Glenn Hamp. His wife, co-owner and photographer Lilet Hamp and staff will also be available to answer questions about the business.
Also featured will be a Flamenco dance demonstration by Yumi la Rosa, a world renowned Flamenco choreographer, instructor and performer. Tours of the photography studio will also be given.
Those who like jazz can stroll across the street to the Chandler Jazz Festival and enjoy the sites and sounds of historic downtown Chandler. LightRain Images Studio is located at 11 W. Local artists paintings at DBG
Chandler and Gilbert artists are part of the 15th Annual Spring Paintout at the Desert Botanical Garden from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., March 20 and 27. Isabela Huin of Gilbert and Pat Beans and Barbarann Mainzer of Chandler are three of more than 40 of Scottsdale Artists League’s finest landscape artists who are painting and selling their artwork at the Garden. Beans is also membership chair of Scottsdale Arts League.
There will also be an art show and sale in the Stardust Foundation Plaza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 2, 3 and 4.
The Spring Paintout provides an opportunity for garden guests to be part of the creative art process. The artists, easily identifiable in red shirts, will answer questions while they paint. A portion of the proceeds from the sale benefits the Desert Botanical Garden and the Scottsdale Artists League’s Scholarship Fund.

Downtown exhibit features work of CA artists
“El Arte de Los Angeles,” an exhibition exploring the cultural perspective of Latino artists from the Los Angeles area, runs through May 1 at Xico Inc.’s downtown Chandler gallery space.
An opening reception for the artists is held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., March 26 at the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit showcases the art of several California artists, including George Yepes, Abel Alejandre, Joe Bravo, Yolanda Gonzales, Maria Kane, Pola Lopez, Heriberto F. Luna, Cici Segula and Julie Zarate.

March 27 final day for Art on Boston
Art on Boston Gallery will be open through the Chandler Jazz Festival, and its final day will be Sat., March 27. The continuing poor economy forced owners Laurie Fagen and Wendy Fallon to shut their doors in historic downtown Chandler after nearly three years in business.
The Art on Boston Community School of the Arts will continue to operate through its website, www.aobcommunityschoolarts.org, and will provide multi- generational art classes and programming in the area.
Valley Fever Improv, a local improvisational comedy troupe, is seeking a new home in the Chandler/Gilbert area in which to perform, and can be contacted at www.valleyfeverimprov.com.
