Dehumidifi ers - available from most DIY stores
Dehumidifi ers are needed in many incubation rooms In order to reduce the ambient humidity in the air so that
the humidity in the incubator can be reduced to between 20-30% when required. The British climate tends to
produce an average ambient humidity of around 50% RH which means that, the low relative humidity (RH) in
the incubator necessary for some exotic and ratite eggs to achieve the correct weight loss during incubation,
cannot be achieved without help from a dehumidifi er, as, even when electronic humidity control modules are
fi tted, the RH in the incubator cannot always be reduced below the ambient humidity in the room. Dehumidifi ers
are also an excellent source of “free” distilled water - ideal for use in humidity units, incubators, irons etc. If you
currently buy distilled water, a dehumidifi er will pay for itself, time and time again.
640900 Silica Gel Dessicant. Self-indicating, coarse silica gel beads for use in removing unwanted humidity from incubators. 9.15 10.75
When placed in an open container in the incubator the silica gel will absorb moisture from the air. Colour change
indicates when desiccant is saturated. Can be re-charged, time and time again by heating in a cool oven. 500g.
