Through his will, Stuart Levy is starting a scholarship fund
charitable bequest
for college-bound students who live in his hometown
of Suffolk. It will be the first scholarship fund at the
Foundation exclusively for students from that city. His fund
will be called the Alice Riddick Levy and Stuart Paul Levy
Scholarship Fund.
“The Foundation is a place for me to do
what I want with what I have. The more we talked,
the more I knew I was at the right place.”
A bit of
Alice and Stuart Levy lived in Suffolk where he worked first
background
in retail and then as a real estate appraiser. She died in 1998.
“Her death left me alone. I have no children and no immediate
family,” Stuart says. He remembers writing a recommendation
letter to the Foundation years ago to help a friend apply for a
college scholarship. That friend is now an orthodontist.
Knowing how a scholarship changed his friend’s life inspired
Stuart to contact the Foundation to see how he could help
students achieve their educational goals.
