ONE: Growing up as a kid, how did music affect your life?
Buggs: Music has always affected my life it is one of the main reason
im still here on this earth. It has saved me and is my calling from God
i am only messenger.
ONE: How did you get involved in the music industry?
Buggs: Well my family listened to music day in, day out when i was
younger so it was hard to escape. It's really hard to explain but i can
only say it was meant for me since i was 5 i been into writing poetry
at that age it was kinda abnormal for a kid to be doing that i use to go
up to this jazz club up the street from where we lived called Sudsey
Malone's and the owner use to let me and my friends in & I would just
watch & listen to the live bands play.
ONE: What is your opinion of today’s music industry and what have
you done to contribute to it?
Buggs: Honestly i like that the industry has become back to indie
more artist are having more control or full control over they music.
One thing im not happy with is that o feel artist aren't putting out as
much quality music as they did in the 90's. I feel it has been getting
worst but I feel now people are jus sick of the consumer im speaking
of forcing artist to make better music, albums aren't selling you really
have to give people a good reason to pay for your music, or pay to
come to your shows! What i bring is quailty music a whole brand of
quality in every which way i'm apart of a change in just not hip-hop
but music in general for the better.
ONE: Please share some of the struggles you have experienced in the
industry?
Buggs: Well I mean just the usual it's a lot of wave riding going on
has been forever seem like even more now, people only posting music
on sites & blogs that they know and or artist paying to get on there but
the music is horrible not giving artist with good music a chance, I
faced that problem a lot & in some way it's the same now it's a never
ending battle & a problem that's hurting music. It's the same for radio
now a days I got people who wouldn't play or post my music just be-
cause of the politics now they wanna mess with me cause they see a
lot of the artist the worship co-signing & showing me love just be-
cause my music is quality & exciting. I am one of the few artist that
have come into this B.S industry with no co-sign & doing this from a
indie stand point with my money & really just relying on pure talent
to break me through that's why it has taken me longer than it should
have.
What tips do you have for other music artists out there to make a
name for themselves.
Buggs: The only advice is to follow your heart & be your-self make
quality music, be original & creative. Don't look for a label to make
your career get out here and grind utilize this thing we call the inter-
net, and invest in your own career no-body will look out for you better
than you, a strong team/foundation is key!
