At the height of the Great Depression, the showman of a
renowned circus leads his troupe through the devastated Amer-
ican landscape, lifting the spirits of audiences along the way.
During their travels they discover Will, who lives out his life in
a sordid carnival sideshow, far below his aspirations of the
grandeur of the great circuses. Having only known a life of lim-
itation and discouragement, Will is struck by an intriguing en-
counter with the showman that leaves him hope, and a drive to
struggle against everything he has ever believed.

Director’s Statement
Our hope in making this film was to tell a
story that would resound someplace deep in
the soul, in that part of us that wants to be-
lieve we’re significant, that we’re meant for
something great in spite of our struggles or
failures. There are so many things in this
world that try and overwhelm that sense and convince us that
we’re not worth it or that it’s not possible. This is a story that’s
meant to unbury that hope and breathe life into it.
