Welcome
It is with great pride that we welcome you to the Siemers Holsteins Spring Showcase!
Cows are our passion, our hobby...and ultimately our bread & butter. Currently we are the fourth, f_i fth and sixth generations to
operate our family farm. Established in 1890, registered cattle didn’t become a passion for us until 1905.
We grew up doing chores, showing cattle and being very involved in youth dairy activities. We wanted to give our children
many of the same opportunities because it was through our cattle that we were fortunate enough to travel the state and coun-
try attending conventions, meetings, sales and shows, all while meeting breeders with similar goals and interests. Through
these experiences, we have been introduced to awesome people, found jobs, made cattle purchases and one of us even found a
spouse!
In 1994 we started expanding our herd at a new facility 1.5 miles from the original dairy. We grew the herd from a proposed
700 cows to today’s number of 2,800 by adding 200-400 more cows each year. During this gradual and consistent expansion, we
still had some good cow families, but we were concentrating more on growth than on genetics. What we needed was a spark!
Sherry wanted to purchase something “special” for her daughter Crystal to begin a 4-H project with and a purchase of embryos
from Tri-Day Ashlyn (2E-96) was the exact spark she was searching for! Those embryos created Angel and her impressive sisters,
as well as becoming the foundation of a new and promising cow family at Siemers Holsteins. The immediate excitement they
created got our entire family rejuvenated with registered Holsteins and helped us transition our crossbred cows from the focus
of our breeding to recipient use.
For six consecutive years now, Ashlyn family members have been Nominated for us in either the Junior or Open All-American
Contests. The showring has been instrumental in the Siemers Holsteins promotional program. During these past six years,
we’ve also had numerous All-Wisconsin winners and top 10 f_i nishers at World Dairy Expo. In particular, 2009 was a banner year
for us as we earned our f_i rst Premier Breeder banner at the Wisconsin Championship Show, as well as having our very f_i rst All-
American winner in the Junior Best 3 Females class. Goldie, a beautiful winter yearling for 2010, was part of the Junior Best 3
group and she is one of the very exciting heifers being of_f ered for sale.
Having this sale is truly a big step for us because we are avid collectors of cattle and of yet, have never sold a substantial group
from the very top end of the herd. However, we know we need to sell our best to match the exceptional guest consignments
being of_f ered. When putting this group of cattle together, we tried to assemble a group of potential “sparks” - the kind of cattle
that can energize your own marketing program.
We sincerely thank our guest consignors for allowing us to select from the top ends of their herds, featuring some very special
and elite cow families. In fact, gathering these outstanding consignments has been the highlight of putting this event to-
gether. Seeing farms, viewing cattle and meeting wonderful breeders and caretakers of these animals has been fun and very
rewarding.
What pleases us most is that this lineup truly of_f ers you showring success, marketing opportunities and prof_i table & productive
cattle that will work for you on a daily basis.
The future of our business hinges on the ability of buyers to do well with the animals we sell. Afterall, a satisf_i ed buyer is a
return buyer...and that’s the best buyer of all! We invite you to join this group!
