FRESH LAUNDRY
From the mind of a self-confessed
nuisance around Cardiff’s underground
street culture, as well as key player in the
homegrown music industry for over 12
years, comes DroneBoy Laundry. Fresh,
original designs in limited quantities will
be provided from the same names behind
Aperture and Hospitality around Cardiff.
DroneBoy is a throwback to graffi ti and
hip-hop artists in 80s New York, and aims
to create classic, timeless clothing. From
the founder of Aperture, who put on most
of Cardiff’s best drum’n’bass nights, you’ll
almost defi nitely see these designs around
the more exciting parts of South Wales. We
suggest you snap them up while you can
– with limited numbers available, get one of
these and you won’t look like a clone from
Topman.

PAWS FOR
THOUGHT
round-up
The team of animators behind Fantastic Mr
Fox, including the editor (Ralph Forster) and
cinematographer (Tristan Oliver) will be taking part
in a Q&A session at The Atrium on Fri 12 Sat-13 Mar,
courtesy of Screen Academy Wales.
The crew were said to have been sent videos via
iPhone from director Wes Anderson, acting out the
ZOOM FESTIVAL 2010
scenes as he wanted them, from his fl at in Paris
– which clearly means that they’re a mixture of talent
For the last four years Zoom Festival has been
and cool. Of course, this might be a good subject to
staged across the south Wales valleys, in an attempt
enter proceedings with: “What is your talent:cool
to bring impetus to the creative talent of the region’s
ratio?” I dare you. Info: 029 2048 0141 / www.
youths. It’s certainly worked. Bursting with fi lm

exhibitions and events, this year’s Zoom Festival
opens with a preview screening of Tim Burton’s new
work, Alice in Wonderland.
One of the main events is an audience debate centred
around one of last year’s fi lms,
Please Vote For Me, which
explores the Machiavellian
manoeuvrings of a group of third-
grade children in China, as they
seek to climb the greasy pole of
classroom politics and become
the classroom monitor.
Admission for screening of Alice
in Wonderland is free, but with
limited places.

BRAINS IS GOOD FOR YOU!
Stout is a hardy brew that largely fell out of favour a long time ago, with the exception of that
Irish favourite Guinness. Until now, that is. Tapping into a rich tradition of stout-brewing
in Wales, Brains will be introducing their new stout, Brains Black, on St David’s Day. The
offi cial sponsors of the Welsh rugby team will celebrate the launch with an almighty piss-up in
their Cardiff brewery, and you can expect to see Brains Black on tap near you very soon.
