sanctions against
Malagasy President
Andry Rajoelina, which will
become effective 17 March, will
require all African states to
expel Madagascar’s
Ambassadors, including those
accredited to 43 other
international bodies.
Ugandan Ambassador to the
AU, Mull Sebujja Katende, said
the sanctions would be effective 17
March unless President Rajoelina
forms a national unity government.
In one of the toughest sanctions
ever taken against an African
nation, the Peace and Security
Council (PSC) of the AU also
requested the UN Security Council
veto-wielding nations to back the
sanctions unless President
Rajoelina cooperates.
